Kelli's recette de cocktail

For my cocktail, I made my own Limencello using Ketel One Vodka which I let infuse for 1 week and then added a sugar and water mixture (1:1 ratio) and some charred alder wood, which I let infuse about 24 hours to give the Limencello a hint of Smokiness. I’ve also used Aperol to add some bitterness, some soda water and of course the Mionetto Prosecco is highlighted in the drink. I decided to use Lemon Zest Sea Salt from Salt Spring island to play off the Limencello and give the cocktail more of a citrus pop, and some saltiness with the salt.
This recipe was inspired by the beautiful Tofino sunsets (my favourite sunsets are when they’re orange!) and all the campfires you see when you go to the beach for sunset (hence the alder infused Limencello). This drink is very refreshing and easy to drink – perfect for summer! Cheers!

Qu'est-ce qui a inspiré la boisson?

When I ‘Think Orange’ I think of the beautiful orange sunsets of Tofino, where I live and work. That inspired me to make a cocktail that showcases the beauty of these sunsets. One of my favourite things to do in Tofino is have a beach fire at sunset. So this cocktail represents those memories and moments. Because the theme of this competition is to ‘Think Orange’ I wanted to use liqueurs that would make an orange hue (hence why I decided on Aperol and my homemade Limencello). One of my favourite drinks is an Amaro Spritz so I wanted to do something similar because it’s easy to drink and even easier to enjoy especially in the summertime.
