Tianna's Cocktail Recipe

I started this recipe by utilizing some of my favourite flavours; bitter, sweet, & acidic. When developing and balancing the ingredients, I discovered that the coffee allowed me to enhance the sweetness in a bitter ingredient, while awakening the acidity in others. In result, this cocktail checks off all of my original flavour markers, while bringing out the brightness in the Mionetto Prosecco, and making it the focal point and lingering taste after consumption.

Caffè Mionetto:
1) Stir 1oz Campari, 0.5oz Nocino & 0.5oz Coffee Liqueur over ice
2) Shake a medium/lightly roasted espresso with ice
3) Strain the stirred mixture over a king cube
4) Top the mixture with 2oz of Mionetto Prosecco and stir in the glass
5) Pour 1.5oz chilled espresso
6) Garnish with a lemon wedge

What inspired the drink?

I absolutely love bittersweet drinks, so utilizing coffee and these particular spirits came naturally. Not only this, but I was inspired by the traditional coffee culture in Italy and wanted to use these ingredients to highlight Mionetto. Although I have yet to visit Italy, I can only imagine what it would be like to sit in a cafe, enjoying cocktails and coffee on a hot sunny day. Therefore, the name Caffè Mionetto is most suitable for this drink.

As for how I put these ingredients together?...I was inspired by 3 primary drinks; the Negroni Sbagliato, an Aperol Spritz, and an Espresso Tonic (non-alcoholic). These are some of my favourite drinks to have at any time of the day, and I thought that Mionetto Prosecco would be the perfect way to replace tonic water and bring all of the ingredients together in one cohesive cocktail.
