River's Cocktail Recipe

This cocktail was based in the idea of wellness and health after a crazy year of the most unpredictable happenings. I wanted to use Asian pear, as the flavour adds to the pear notes in the Mionetto. The honey also brings out the flavours in the Prosecco, adding a bit of sweetness that pairs well with the lavender that gives the cocktail a floral touch. Lavender gives rich flavour and adds texture. The orange bitters and orange and sumac liqueur pair gorgeously with the Campari, which adds a bit of bitterness to balance out the sweet honey and pear. Wild Life gin adds an extra botanical base and is known to embody balance. Cocktail specs: 0.5 Oz runny Henry’s Honey, made from equal parts honey & boiling water. 0.5 Oz Wild Life gin, made locally in Banff. One bar spoon of lavender reduction, made from fresh lavender buds boiled down strained then coolee. 0.75 Oz Cold Steeped Manitou orange and sumac liqueur – handmade in Naramata BC – the village name meaning from the « spirit world ». 2 dashes of Fee Brothers orange bitters. 0.5 Oz of Campari. Shaken & double strained into a coupe glass. Topped with 2 Oz of Mionetto Prosecco. Garnished with 3 slices of Asian pear and 2 lavender buds. The perfect Prosecco champagne beverage, to be enjoyed on hot summer days that are filled with love and laughs. Cheers friends! Stay mindful, stay Mionetto.

What inspired the drink?

This year was one like no other. Being away from the bar for month after month was challenging. I felt the need to create something that highlights the importance if well being and connection with others, that we all need, especially after this year. The Mionetto Prosecco is perfect on at any time of day, any time of the year. Asian pears are refreshing and contain vitamin C and potassium. They moisten dry skin which in the Rockies climate is super key. They boost your immune system and make you feel good! Lavender helps improve sleep and reduces heart rate and blood pressure. Sumac is rich in antioxidants and full of nutrients. Oranges also boost your immune system and are anti-inflammatory. Campari is a bitter Italian classic which pairs incredibly with the sumac & orange, and balanced sweetness from the juice and honey. Wellness and cocktails can mix, and taste best when they do! Cheers to you, mindful humans!
