Alice's Cocktail Recipe
4 oz of Mionetto Prosecco, 1/2 oz of Ardbeg Wee Beasti Whisky, 1oz of Home Made Mulled Spiced Simple syrup, 2 dashes of Liquid smoke, rimmed with an orange slice and garnished with a dehydrated orange slice.
– Home Made Mulled Spiced Simple Syrup Recipe – 1 cup of honey, 1 cup of near boiling water, orange peel, cloves, star anise, cinnamon bark, bitter orange peel, left to simmer.
What inspired the drink?
When I first tried Mionetto Prosecco, it reminded me of being with family on a autumn evening in the UK around a bonfire. It made me think about covid and how the restrictions of seeing the ones we love has made us rethink 'normal' and how we want to spend our time. No matter where you were in the world we were brought together, momentarily, and through the hard times signs of love still shone through. I wanted to recreate a cocktail that would take me back to my family in the UK every time I had it. The 5th November was a night my family and friends would gather outside around the bonfire each year, usually in the rain, have a mulled wine, a chat and a laugh. It always seemed a very odd thing to do in the UK in November, seemingly for no other reason then to celebrate nothing happening to London, but I loved it! After living in Canada for 8 years I try to recreate the night with friends for simply no other reason then be together. With this cocktail I tried to bring that all together.
